MODEL DTX1
Bluetooth® Wireless Headsets
The following precautions should be taken to protect your hearing:
• Limit the amount of time you use the all-in-one headset at high volume.
• Don't turn up the volume to drown out noisy surroundings.
• Turn down the volume if you can't hear people speaking near you.
Preventing Hearing Damage: Permanent hearing loss can occur if you use
wireless headset transceiver at high volume. Before using the headset, turn it on
and check the volume. Use the up and down arrow buttons on the headset to
adjust the volume.
Over time, prolonged use at high volume levels can sound normal but can
damage your hearing. If you experience ringing in your ears or muffled speech,
stop using the headset and have your hearing checked. The louder the volume,
the less time you need to use the headset before your hearing could be affected.
CAUTION:
As with any audio device, such as headphones or a headset,
that delivers amplified sound to the ears, using the wireless
headset transceiver at excessive volume levels can cause
hearing damage or loss. Failure to follow these safety
instructions could result in injury.

Your basic system includes:
Base Station: This is the control center for your entire
system. All devices and connected components are
controlled from here. Headsets are paired here for use,
and your system is also configured here. The Base
Station also provides feedback on the status of system
components, such as headsets and speakers.
Bluetooth Headset: The headset allows you to
communicate with customers in a store or drive-thru
lane environment. The Base Station is compatible with
most Bluetooth headset brands on the market. You do
not need to use any particular brand.
Desktop Microphone and Speaker Base: This device
allows you to communicate with customers without
wearing a headset. It can be used for handsfree
speaking or push-to-talk (PTT). The base includes a
volume control and vehicle detector indicators.
External Speaker/Microphone (not shown): These
include external speakers and microphones found in
speaker post enclosures, typically located in drive-thru
lanes. These devices facilitate two-way communication
between the store and customers at menu boards,
kiosks, and in drive-thru lanes.
Ultrasonic Vehicle Detector (not shown): Detects
vehicles when they are in front of the drive-thru
speaker post. An audible beep sound, alerts the drivethru
communication operator to the presence of a
vehicle. It automatically cuts off communication when
the vehicle leaves.

Bluetooth headsets
The DTX1 intercom is compatible with most Bluetooth headset
brands on the market. These headsets can be identified as call
center headsets, trucker headsets, conference headsets, etc.,
and vary in some features, such as battery size, talk and
standby duration, audio quality, and microphone sensitivity.
Overall, commercial headsets typically have similar
functionalities, regardless of the price. Since all intercoms are
designed to work better with voice frequencies, there is no need
for a high-fidelity headset, which is better for music.
This DTX1 intercom compatibility feature allows for quick and
inexpensive headset replacement. No need to pay for highpriced
proprietary brand headsets or costly service and repairs
from authorized dealers only.
Pairing
Before you can start using your system, you must first pair your headsets with the Base
Station. Pairing links the headset to the Base Station, allowing it to recognize your
headset and communicate with it.
To pair the Bluetooth headset with the Base Station:
• Make sure that OVERRIDE is disabled and that there is NO car in the drive-thru lane.
• If no headset is paired or connected, the blue STATUS LED should be blinking.
• Put the Bluetooth headset in pairing mode (see your headset's user manual for
instructions.), usually by holding the headset power button for 3-5 seconds. It will be
blinking RED/BLUE when entering in pairing mode.
• Hold the Base Station “PAIR” button on headset (1 or 2) for 2 seconds.
• Release the “PAIR” button when you hear the confirmation tone.
• Keep your Bluetooth headset within 2 feet of the Base Station while pairing.
• The pairing process can take up to 3 minutes.
• When the headset is paired with the Base Station, the blue STATUS LED will turn on
solid.
• If pairing fails, power reset the Base Station (turn it OFF and then back ON) and try
again.
• Repeat the same actions to pair the other Bluetooth Headset.

Bluetooth headset volume / gain levels
The DTX1 intercom system works with different brands of Bluetooth headsets. For this
reason, the levels of the microphone gain and earpiece volume sometimes need to be
adjusted for normal operation. Once the levels are adjusted, they will be saved to the
Base Station's memory. You don't need to change them again unless you need to, or if
you replace your headset with a new one.
Mic Gain: Adjust the MIC GAIN when you have to raise or lower your normal voice when
you speak to the customer. This will increase or decrease the output volume of your
voice, controlling the gain or sensitivity of the microphone’s Bluetooth headset.
For best results, keep the microphone gain as low as possible to prevent your headset
from picking up too much background noise.
Speaker Gain: Adjust the headset (earpiece) gain when you have trouble hearing the
customer. Do this if the volume is too low or too high (distorted).

control
To adjust the MIC gain and earpiece volume levels: Set the Base Station Main Front
volume controllers in normal level operation.
• Either drive a car to the speaker post or use the override function to open the drivethru
audio communication and simulate a customer.
• Select the headset you want to adjust (headset 1 or headset 2).
• Adjust the MIC GAIN pushing the up or down buttons and ask the people in the drivethru
if they can hear you clearly.
• Set the built-in headset's volume control to about 75%. Then, adjust the Base Station
SPEAKER GAIN so that you can hear the customer when they talk. Keep this as low
as possible to avoid background noise.
NOTE - Level Buttons: There are 14 positions on the level buttons. Each press of a
button will produce a “beep” sound. When you reach the highest or lowest level, you will
hear a “double beep”.

BLUETOOTH HEADSETS COMPATIBILITY TEST
The DTX1 system supports two different Bluetooth over-the-head headsets, including
different types, such as single ear earphones, earpieces, and earbuds. These devices
can also be used as listen-only devices to monitor the drive-thru communication. You
can mix headset brands and types and adjust them individually to be appropriate for
your use case.
To check compatibility, pair the headset with the DTX1 Base Station (see "Pairing" on
page 5). If the pairing is successful, test the headset as follows:
• Enable the vehicle detector override function to simulate a car being present and
open the drive-thru audio.
• Press the multi-function button on your new Bluetooth headset to answer the drivethru
call.
• Press the multi-function button to toggle the headset mute function on and off.
• If everything works properly, you may need to adjust the volume levels to suit your
needs (see page 6).
DESKTOP MICROPHONE & SPEAKER BASE
If your headset is broken, out of batteries, or impractical to use, you can use the Desktop
Mic & Speaker Base. It has a built-in audio amplifier with a volume control, a directional
microphone that reduces noise, hands-free and push-to-talk mute buttons, and a flashing
light and volume-adjustable beep sound to alert you when a car is present in the drivethru
lane.
To connect the Desktop Mic & Speaker Base, plug it into the Ethernet jack marked
Desktop Mic Speaker on the back of the DTX1 Base Station.
NOTE: Don’t connect any device (PC, router, etc) to the Base Station Ethernet jack,
other than the Desktop Mic Base. This jack has voltages that can damage your
equipment.
Hands-Free Button: Tap this button to answer a drive-thru call and maintain a hands-free
conversation with the customer. Tap again to mute the microphone.
Push-to-Talk Button: Press and hold this button as you speak with the customer. The
microphone will mute when you release the button. We highly recommend using the
push-to-talk drive-thru communication option because it prevents you from accidentally
leaving the microphone open after finishing taking orders.
Speaker volume control: Adjust this control to your preference. Try to keep the volume
as low as possible to avoid background noise, echo, or feedback.
Car Alert Beep volume: Adjust this control to increase or decrease the beep sound when
a car is detected in the drive-thru lane.

Intercom Function
When a car is present at the drive-thru in front of the speaker post, the following
functionalities are in place:
• A beep sound is emitted on the headsets and the desktop microphone.
• The beep sound will continue until someone answers the drive-thru call.
Any available order taker can answer the call using either the headsets or the desktop
microphone.
If either headset 1 or headset 2 answers the call, the respective LED will indicate which
one is actively taking orders.
Once a response is provided on any device, the other two devices enter a monitoring
mode, allowing them to listen only.
You can mute the audio monitor by tapping the multi-button on the headset.
On the desktop device, you can monitor the customer's audio only.
While communicating with the customer, you can mute or unmute your microphone by
tapping the headset's multi-button.
This action will trigger a beep sound, and the MUTE LED on the base station will
display the mute status.
If necessary, you can promptly adjust the main volume control on the base station for
immediate effect.
When the car departs from the speaker post, the intercom system will automatically
terminate the communication after 2 seconds.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Base Station is off: The Base Station does not have a power on/off button. It turns on
automatically when plugged into a live wall outlet. Verify that the power adapter is plugged
into a live wall outlet.
Base Station is on but not responsive: Try a hard reset by unplugging the power cord
from the wall outlet and waiting a few seconds before reconnecting it. Reboots can take
several minutes to complete.
Headset does not power on: Verify that the Bluetooth headset battery is fully charged.
Headset does not pair: Verify that the headset has a sufficiently charged battery and is
powered on. Keep the headset within 3 feet of the base station. If the headset still fails to
pair, try turning the base station off and back on, then try pairing again.
Headset has no sound: Verify that the headset is on and paired. Verify that the headset
is within range (30 feet). Press and hold the volume up button on the headset keypad until
you hear an audible beep. The beep becomes louder as the volume increases.
Headset communication is choppy or drops off: Headsets have an effective range.
Move the headset to within range of the base station. Also, verify that the headset has a
charged battery. Large or metal objects can also disrupt signal propagation. Try moving to
a different location or within line of sight of the base station.
Headset battery will not charge: Verify that the charger is plugged in and turned on.
Verify that the headset's battery and charger contacts are clean and free from debris,
contaminants, or obstructions.
